When painting door trim, many professional painting contractors find it easier to remove the door from its hinges before painting.  Failing to do so makes it harder to reach the hinge and latch sides of the door trim as the well as the top section.  You are also running the risk of having the door stick to the trim because of the tacky or wet paint.  You can bet a professional will have the tools to take care of this aspect of the job quickly and easily.  It just makes more sense to let a contractor take care of the painting.  He or she will be able to do it faster and with much less mess than you can.
